June 20th Art Walk

My aquarium close up
flame angel is hiding under the shelf on the right-a close-up of the coraline encrusted evil tiki god being worshipped by a troll and anemone (horde of course) >:D muahaha how many innocent creatures have been sacrificed to appease him??!
the anemone used to be a fatty white fro on top of his head but it moved to get outta the lights
a bit of backstory: basically, everything died when I moved the tank from the office to my house (totally my fault). lost some corals, clowns, another lawnmower!, some shrimp and crabs :( soooo... now that the tank is all settled again, i moved about 50% of the live rock to the sump, and started restocking again.
some random info for other fellow aquarists, from my own experience:
1) emerald crabs are great herbivores when little- then they become carnivorous death machines when they grow up. don't listen to the fishstores, they'll gobble up your little fish one by one... I saw it catch, kill, and eat my firefin goby with my very own eyes!!
2) same goes for bristleworms... sure, they're great detrivores, but who knew they would grow to be over 6" extended? we finally fished it out w/ chopsticks after a coupla months of camping the tank at night- but not until it ate a clownfish, a cleaner shrimp, and a fire shrimp...
3) everyone needs a tiki monster in the tank for the fish to worship...
good news is: we now have 2 tanks at the office!! hahaha bernie and steve both got one, the latter being home to the epic biggity big (pics later)

WOW: Emergent Phenomenon @ Laguna Art Museum
Fourteen international artists were selected to consider this movement with the following themes in mind: elements of desire, the collapse of fantasy, medievalism, creative critiques, and public intervention. Artists in this exhibition take on the visual marker of World of Warcraft to consider, implications of gaming, and their greater impact on our culture. In addition to the works of these artists, fan art and the growing culture of machinima (computer animation that uses the graphic engines from video games) will be explored in this exhibition."
I heard I had a piece in this show, I gotta go check it out :)

Fallen Princesses
"As a young girl, growing up abroad, I was not exposed to Fairy tales. These new discoveries lead to my fascination with the origins of Fairy tales. I explored the original brothers Grimm's stories and found that they have very dark and sometimes gruesome aspects, many of which were changed by Disney. I began to imagine Disney's perfect Princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me, such as illness, addiction and self-image issues." -Dina Goldstein

My Aquarium
Also got one of these suckers...

flame angel
Plus a lawnmower blennie that promptly jumped out of the tank the night I got it. I thought I saved it in time, only to see a gang of hermits munching his corpse the next morning... :O
Only a little skull is left...
